Have you ever wanted to feel what its like to fly the skies like a celebrity? Well Air Canada might just have the next best thing. In an effort to get Canadians excited about winter holiday travel in spite of the coronavirus pandemic, Air Canada is offering all business class flights to select destinations.
Air Canada has recently announced that it is making its fleet of all-Business Class, Jetz charter aircraft—typically reserved for sports teams and the like—available to passengers for commercial flights to some popular winter routes this year. Each of the airline’s four Airbus A319 Jetz aircraft are configured with only 58 North American Business Class seats. That number is less than half the usual number of seats on this aircraft and promises to provide an elevated flying experience.
“Air Canada is very pleased to offer its customers a unique opportunity to travel like a pro athlete or a VIP and experience our premium Jetz service. Customers booking on a Jetz flight will enjoy such amenities as its all-Business Class seating configuration, upgraded meal service, and shorter boarding and deplaning times. These features, combined with Jetz’s other attributes, create a private-jet-like experience,” said Mark Galardo, Vice President of Network Planning and Alliances at Air Canada.
Jetz aircraft normally only transport customers like professional sports teams, musical groups on tour, and corporate clients on a charter basis. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions on many sports and entertainment events and other large gatherings, the carrier is now making the aircraft available for use by the general public. Some of Air Canada Jetz’s past and present customers include famous performers like Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and U2, as well as professional sports teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and the Montreal Canadiens.
Passengers will travel in a single cabin that features 58 North American Business Class seats that feature 42-to-49-inch seat pitch. There’s even four facing seats with a table in the center that can be booked by families and friends travelling together. Complimentary iPads for entertainment will also be provided.
To further entice passengers, travelers will receive priority check-in and security clearance, as well as Maple Leaf Lounge and Star Alliance Lounge access. Aircraft will also have prime gate locations so that passengers only need to begin boarding 35 minutes prior to departure. To sweeten the deal, passengers will also receive a premium, pre-packaged meal and complimentary bar and beverage service. More information about Jetz can be found on the website.
Customers can book a Jetz flight starting October 21, 2020 for travel during the Christmas period, which ranges between December 12, 2020 and January 6, 2021. There will also be a second schedule for March Break flights offered at a later date. The special Jetz flights will operate non-stop between the following cities:
- Toronto to: Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Barbados, Cancun, Kelowna and Vancouver.
- Vancouver to: Phoenix, Palm Springs and Puerto Vallarta.
- Montreal to: Fort Lauderdale and Barbados.
